How To Distract Yourself From Self-Harm – The 100 Method List

Having seen so many lists of self-harm distractions I set myself the task of thinking of 100 different ways to distract myself from cutting. All of the methods had to be something I could just get up and do straight away, and they had to be realistic… which means no trips to the moon, sadly! I told myself I wouldn’t look at any other lists while I do this, so everything on this list is either thought of as I type or from my memory of methods I’ve read in the past. This list could be used as a “to do when bored” list but I hope you find something on here to stop yourself from self-harming. If one doesn’t work you have another 99 to try.

Honestly, I wrote this list by myself. I’m pretty tired because this took a very long time, at the end you can tell I was running out of ideas (although, smiling will make you feel better).     1. Likes maths (I assume). There was this post where depressionless took a picture of all these beautiful textbooks. I fangirled over these books.

    2. Engages with readers. I like how it feels as if depressionless is actually taking to you.

    4. Writes helpful stuff. Having been through some similar stuff it’s…well it hurts hearing about someone else going through this stuff but like, I get it. I understand and am continuing to learn to understand. Mental health is such a big thing.

    5. If writing makes depressionless happy, then I’m happy. Hell, we’re happy! Readers are happy! Depressionless goes through rough patches but we’re here.

    Pretty impressive list. I like lists. When I was depressed, I constantly made “to do” lists. Sometimes, I felt some sense of satisfaction in getting through the list. Thank you.
